Spongebob Cake 2

Another Spongebob Cake for the grandson of my mom's friend. Its not my project, I just kinda stole it from my mom because I've been wanting to do some cake decorating for the past few days. I did a Spongebob cake before with the under the sea theme, so I decided to do a real Spongebob cake.

The cake is made of Chocolate Chiffon cake which is really spongy. What a match, spongy cake for Spongebob. Anyway, it is a bit difficult to carve figures on a spongy cake. So a tip, always use Pound Cake for carving party cakes. A pound cake recipe that works for me is one from Martha Stewart. And because its not actually my project, I was not able to make my pound cake.

This is actually, the most challenging cake I made so far. The meringue is a bit messy. How i wished I just used fondant to cover the cake. Well, eventually I made it through. I do hope that the celebrant likes it. So long krusty crew!

Ruffle Cake

I was fascinated when I first saw the Buttercream Ruffle Cake at Call me cupcake! I was very much eager to have my own version. This is an 8 inches dummy cake. It actually looks pretty, I'm just using the worst camera ever. The ruffles on the side are not that difficult, you just need to have your buttercream well formed and set. In here I used Italian Buttercream Meringue, you can find a tutorial in here. The top part is a little bit hard, but I think the cake pulled it off.

PaupiCakes

I grew up loving pastries, breads and anything sweet. My mom loves to bake, though she never had any formal education (like me). I remember that the first cake she baked is for my birthday. We don't have an oven at that time, so she steamed the cake. But it is was one of the most delicious cake I've ever tasted. My mom learned baking from books and a lot of trials and errors, and I learned a lot from her. However, the world of sweets are so fascinating there are still millions of things I need to try and to learn. Taking into consideration that i just started baking this year. I don't know, I just recently got into baking. But I've always been into cake decorating, the first cake I decorated is when I was 17 years old. I used boiled icing, and the first design I was taught is Wilton's basket weave design.

Anyway, so I started this blog to keep track of my baking and cake decorating. And also because I want to follow my favorite food/cake blogs that are very very helpful and I'm learning a lot from them. Some of my favorites are here. Blogs, books and my mom are the sources of my baking education.

Happy Caking!!

Tinkle Bell Cupcake Tower

Here are some of the picture of my recent creation. A Tinkle Bell themed birthday cake. Each cupcake has the celebrant's picture. The picture lolly (as what I call it) is not edible. I decorated the cake using boiled icing. And I use royal icing for the flowers.

And here are some of the pictures.

My Five Tier Cupcake Tower

My five tier cupcake tower decorated with cute little butterflies.

Transformers Cupcake Tower

I made this cake last December. My friend asked me to do her son's first birthday cake. She specifically wants a five tier cupcake tower. I'm glad that there is a ready made cupcake tower in Divisoria, that place is such a life saver! I covered each cupcakes with chocolate ganache and decorated each with the Transformer's logo using fondant.

Attack tiny Turtles!

I made these really cute turtle toppers for a friend's order. The turtle is made of gumpaste and I use pen with edible ink for the details.

Let's bring in the Chocolate Cupcakes... drool..

To be extra special, let's add some Chocolate Buttercream swirl on top. yum..

And cover everything with white fondant.

Cute right? :) Hope you like it!
